Support the Healthcare-NOW! Campaign to Celebrate Medicare’s 43rd Birthday!

Medicare’s 43rd Birthday is July 30th - Medicare is known as one of the most successful social programs in the United States. Medicare beneficiaries are overwhelmingly satisfied with their coverage, and now it is time to give improve and expand this wonderful program to everyone in the country! Support HR 676, Expanded and Improved Medicare for All!

Win-Win Campaign Resources Now Available

We want YOU for a new campaign targeting local government entities – cities, towns, counties, school boards – in an effort to get them to endorse HR 676. Our hook is big money savings in a time of fiscal crisis for governments.

Help us get this message to local government officials. We are asking for interested people to sign up for this campaign, and commit to a 6-8 week process of learning and doing, culminating – if all goes well – in a resolution or public endorsement from your town, city, county or school board. Local officials will learn that national health insurance is the only reform that provides significant financial relief for fiscally strapped local governments.

We welcome everyone’s help. If you live in a big city with a progressive mayor who might quickly see the light and sign on to HR 676, we especially hope you will sign up. High visibility mayoral support will bring momentum to this campaign.

So, sign on today! Send your email to info@healthcare-now.org. In your email, we need to know several things: full name; USPO mailing address; phone number(s); and the government entity you think you want to target. Please, don’t sign up unless you are willing to complete a 6-8 week hands-on process designed to win a local endorsement for HR 676. You will need to commit about 5 hours/week to this campaign.

Visit our Win-Win Campaign Page for more information.

Death By Spreedsheet Booklet Now Available

This booklet contains testimonials detailing injustices of the American health care system. These are firsthand accounts of tragedy and death due to insurance denials and lack of coverage.

At a time when 47 million American people are uninsured and 80 million more Americans have inadequate coverage, these expressions of suffering--posted to our online petition--document the experiences of people in the midst of this health care crisis. In a society that can attribute 101,000 unnecessary deaths each year to problems with our health insurance system and lack of preventative care, these are the voices of just a few of the victims.

Remember, insurance companies must deny healthcare claims in order to increase their profits.

Practical Advice in the Fight for Single-Payer Health Care

Chicago Single-Payer Action Network (CSPAN) created this tool kit to assist other single-payer groups in organizing protests of insurance companies.
